Reducing morbidity and mortality from hereditary cancer is a national health priority, as evidenced by the significant federal funding dedicated towards this effort over the last decade. There are 4 million people affected by hereditary cancer in the United States, the vast majority of whom are unaware of their underlying condition. Hereditary cancer represents a complex and multifaceted problem, requiring synergistic multidisciplinary efforts that span laboratory science, clinical, epidemiological and psychosocial research, with cutting-edge technology used to augment each of these facets. We hope this symposium will inspire attendees to explore interdisciplinary approaches that can revolutionize cancer care in the future. It is open to anyone interested in learning more about hereditary cancer syndromes and collaborating with fellow attendees to develop ideas for future research projects.
This symposium is hosted by Dr. Melissa Frey, Dr. Ravi Sharaf, and Dr. Shaoyi Jiang. There will be speakers, workshops, and a poster session. Topics to include: Genetic Testing, Hereditary Cancer, Polygenic Risk Scores, Cancer Vaccines, Healthcare Disparities, Breast Imaging, and Psychosocial Health.
