IDEAL

The Imaging Data Evaluation & Analysis Laboratory (IDEAL) is a state-of-the-art facility operated by and integral to Weill Cornell Medicine's Department of Radiology. Our mission is to advance image processing technology through research, support of interdisciplinary research within the institution and with outside collaborators, and to apply these new technologies in the advancement of clinical care. The IDEAL Lab is staffed by Ph.D.s with expertise in development of image processing algorithms, physicians with expertise in imaging informatics, technologists, and graduate students.

IDEAL's mission includes application of state-of-the-art imaging technologies to clinical care. Image post-processing and surgical planning services are provided for a variety of clinical services, including Orthopedic Surgery, Transplant Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Neurosurgery, Emergency, Trauma, Urology and Nephrology.

IDEAL provides research support in the form of Imaging Data Management Services including:

  • data de-identification;
  • data storage; and
  • data transmission.

IDEAL staff have access to and expertise in a variety of advanced visualization tools, including TeraRecon iNtuition, GE Advantage Workstation, Vital Vitrea workstation, and Brainlab.

Image processing services available for research include volumetric analysis, multi-modality fusion, radiotracer / metabolic activity calculations, and a variety of other processes that can be customized for individual research groups.  We also perform image processing and analysis including response assessment.
