Laura Beth McIntire, Ph.D., Awarded $4 Million NIH Grant for "Spatial dysregulation of the lipidome in Alzheimer's disease human and mouse brain"

Congratulations to Laura Beth McIntire, Ph.D., for her $4 million NIH grant: Spatial dysregulation of the lipidome in Alzheimer’s disease human and mouse brain. Using imaging mass spectrometry, the McIntire Lab will atlas regional changes in the lipidome in multiple mouse models from MODEL-AD, harboring genetic variants involved in lipid metabolism previously identified by GWAS studies. In the human context, brain tissue from ApoE4 carriers will be imaged using spatial lipidomics to determine the regional dysregulation of lipid content in the brain. Imaging mass spectrometry will be integrated with spatial transcriptomics to deconvolve cell-type specific changes in the lipidomic profile.
